Emily Kleber

Emily Kleber, M.S., P.G., is a geoscientist who studies how geologic processes have shaped the surface in the recent past, and how future geologic events could affect communities in Utah. Her focus is studying earthquakes in Utah, which create distinct patterns on the surface, and in the near-surface. She is a Project Geologist with the Utah Geological Survey’s Geologic Hazards Program, staff to the Utah Seismic Safety Commission, and adjunct faculty and Salt Lake Community College. She has studied earthquake geology in California, Oregon, Japan, and New Zealand. Her work integrates the study of earthquakes and geologic hazards to determine geologic hazard susceptibility. Emily and her colleagues share and partner with communities who want to learn about geologic hazards, understand their risk, and build resilience
