Open Space Typology and Methodology

A fundamental component to this particular style of land use planning and conservation development is the CEDARi acronym.  All communities consist of Cultural/Historical, Ecological, Developmental, Agricultural, Recreational, and Infrastructural (CEDARi) open space types.  Understanding this overarching framework of open space typologies is critical to conserving the unique set of open space types found in all communities throughout the world.

This project examined this typology by working with the public and produced a series of workshop maps. CEDARi land use planning has the potential to alter ways of life and promote the public’s health and wellbeing. While there are some geographical limitations, CEDARi land use planning can apply to areas all over the world.
